Cables
Stereo East feels it’s very important to connect your audio and video components with high quality cables. Any two wires in parallel become an antenna. With all the radio frequency and electromagnetic transmissions floating around in the air, you don’t want the cable to conduct these signals and introduce noise into your system. Shielding is just one way to insure optimum performance. If you are running speaker cables a long distance, you also want to make sure you have a large enough gauge to carry the signal effectively. Connections at each end need to be tight, secure and offer adequate strain relief.
Power Products
Another important thing to consider is the power coming into your home. Here, you need to be concerned about two points: protecting your gear from external surge events, and cleaning the power as it fluctuates in both voltage and signal to noise. Remember, all of your components are designed on test benches with stable, clean power. The power you get from your wall socket is almost certainly not as regulated or clean! Have you ever measured your outlets and received a continuous 120 volts? The answer is probably not. In addition how do we remove all the noise from the electrical cables that connect each of the outlets in the house. The wires in your walls are called Romex and these wires contain no shielding at all. Clean power along with consistent voltage can drastically affect the bass response and imaging of the audio tracks.
